ACWA releases 2021 volunteer statistics

Volunteering hours in 2021 were strong despite being the second year of the COVID pandemic. More than 600 of hands-on hours were invested by volunteers throughout the year, up more than 20% from the previous year. The highest number of hours (376) were spent planting and maintaining trees in urban areas, while water quality monitoring efforts were maintained with 130 hours.

ACWA is extremely grateful for the time volunteers contribute during the organized events, especially during this time of uncertainty and heighted concern for community health. We are hopeful that as more people are connecting with their local environment, our volunteer number will be even higher in 2022.

Citizen input is always sought for where volunteer projects should be focused. If you have a project idea or concern within the watershed, such as a trash clean up location, properties in need of trees, or stream sites with water quality issues. contact us to discuss potential volunteer events.
